According to Turkish media, the Ro-Ro cargo vessel Lider Bordo Mavi was hit by drone strikes in the Black Sea. The incident occurred on the night of August 26 near the Russian port of Tuapse, reported Samsun Gazetesi.
The vessel had departed from the Turkish port of Samsun on August 25 and was heading for Tuapse. A fire broke out on board following the strike. According to preliminary information from local sources, five crew members sustained injuries of varying severity. The exact extent of the damage and the affiliation of the drones have not been officially confirmed. The vessel’s flag and the owner’s legal details have not been clearly disclosed in open sources for this voyage.
A day earlier, on the night of August 25, the bulk carrier Star II, flying the Liberian flag and linked to a Turkish company, was attacked in the Black Sea. The strike hit the superstructure, causing serious damage to the bridge. No casualties or injuries were reported in that incident.
Both cases are part of a series of August strikes on civilian vessels off the Russian coast. Earlier in the same area, vessels including Necibe, Ural, and other ships linked to Turkish operators were also targeted.
Turkey’s Ministry of Transport had warned shipping companies about threats to navigation safety in the Black Sea. Turkey’s Foreign Ministry had previously expressed concern over the escalation of the conflict in the area.
