Germany is ready to help Ukraine determine the whereabouts of Ukrainian men of conscription age residing in the country, using data on registration, receipt of social benefits, and residency status. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in an interview with Bild.
According to the head of the German Foreign Ministry, the German authorities have information on which Ukrainian citizens are in Germany: registered at their place of residence, receiving social assistance, or holding a residence permit. Berlin, as follows from the minister’s statement, can share this data with the Ukrainian side to identify men subject to mobilization requirements.
Wadephul believes that after receiving such information, Ukrainian authorities will be able to directly contact citizens and notify them of the need to appear regarding military service obligations. In a number of publications, this is described as the ability to send draft notices or requests to report to territorial recruitment centers.
