Ukraine and Germany signed 15 agreements and other documents in the defense and energy sectors worth a total of more than €8.5 billion. The arrangements were reached following the visit of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to Kyiv and the Ukrainian-German business forum with the participation of representatives of defense and energy companies.

The main emphasis was placed on strengthening Ukrainian air defense and countering drones. The parties agreed to develop the production and supply of interceptor drones, small missiles, radars and electronic warfare means, as well as ground robotic systems. A separate area is the expansion of production in Germany of missiles for Patriot and FREYJA systems.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense signed three memoranda with Diehl Defence on the purchase and supply of IRIS-T air defense systems, missiles for them and ammunition. Another memorandum with Hensoldt provides for the purchase of radars, while a letter of intent with Quantum Systems concerns the testing and supply of interceptor drones.

The package also includes the purchase of artillery systems, the placement of Ukrainian defense orders at German enterprises and joint production projects. In addition to military programs, the agreements cover support for Ukrainian energy and increasing the resilience of infrastructure ahead of the winter period.
