The UK will provide Ukraine with an additional £10 billion — about €11.4 billion — in economic and military support. This is the largest financial aid package for Ukraine that London has ever announced. This was stated by Finance Minister John Healey, presenting the budget in parliament.
Of the total, £7 billion will go to economic support over three years, and another £3 billion — to expanding the capabilities of UK Export Finance, primarily for military procurement. Separately, £500 million in emergency military aid is provided for this winter, which will go toward closing critical gaps in Ukrainian air defense.
The economic part includes guarantees to the World Bank of up to £5.5 billion and a £500 million grant to the crisis mechanism of the International Development Association. According to the UK Treasury, this should mobilize another £1.5 billion in support for Kiev.
The package was announced against the backdrop of ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and on the threshold of winter. British authorities emphasize that the funds should help Kiev defend itself, maintain macroeconomic stability and support the operation of basic public services.
The new aid comes on top of London’s existing commitment to allocate £3 billion a year to Ukraine “for as long as it takes.” With the new package, total British commitments to Ukraine reach £35 billion.
