Ukraine is not interested in participating in the Group of Twenty summit if Russia is not represented there. This statement was made by the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Davyd Arakhamia.
“We disagree, because simply sitting at a G20 meeting without the Russians — what would the topic be in that case? I think it is important that Russia be present,” Arakhamia said. In his view, without the Russian delegation the substantive basis of such meetings is lost, since key issues cannot be discussed in a unilateral format.
The G20 summit is scheduled for December 14–15, 2026 in Miami. Arakhamia noted that Ukraine is considering the possibility of holding a trilateral meeting within its framework with the participation of Kyiv, Moscow and Washington, but for this a number of issues still need to be agreed and the basis for negotiations prepared.
According to him, two of the three parties have already preliminarily agreed to such a meeting in mid-December. At the same time, from the first round of negotiations in Abu Dhabi, according to the politician, Kyiv has minimal expectations.
Arakhamia also said that Russia has verbally agreed to humanitarian pauses following the example of the mission in Alyoshki. To implement such initiatives, according to his version, the parties still need to develop concrete projects, agree on documents and overcome mutual distrust.
It was previously reported that US President Donald Trump invited Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit. A final decision on the Russian leader’s trip has not yet been made, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had previously ruled out the possibility of a Putin-Zelensky meeting in Miami, indicating that Moscow is ready for negotiations in Moscow.
