Poland ready to restore relations with Russia over time

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said this in an interview with the Sprawdzam to project. Asked about returning Warsaw-Moscow relations to their previous level, he replied: “When the war ends, we will restore them.” The head of Polish diplomacy linked the possibility of such a decision to the actions of the Russian side.

“You know, some Polish politicians cannot believe that when the other side changes policy, we also change policy,” the minister said.

Explaining Warsaw’s position, Sikorski recalled Russia-EU negotiations on a bilateral agreement in 2008. According to him, at that time Poland maintained normal diplomatic contacts with Moscow and sought to promote its rapprochement with Europe.

Earlier, during a conversation with journalists in Warsaw reported by Euronews on November 6, Sikorski said that negotiations on ending the war must take into account the security interests of Eastern Europe. “The last thing we want is for Western Europe to deal with Russia over the heads of Eastern Europeans,” the minister said. He also opposed resuming purchases of Russian gas as a way to buy time for Europe.
