Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder has stated that Europe has become the second losing party after Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. According to his opinion, expressed in an interview with the Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche, the cessation of many years of energy cooperation with Moscow has caused damage not only to Germany, but to the European region as a whole.

“That is indeed the case. The cessation of energy cooperation, which had lasted for more than 50 years, has certainly led to a loss of prosperity — not only in Germany, but in Europe as a whole,” Schröder said.
