At the International Forum “ROSTKI: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation” in Kazan, participants discussed how information reliability affects bilateral relations. Daniil Bisslinger, Vice President of the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN), stated that without a shared space of trust, the expansion of cooperation in media and tourism would be hindered.
Speaking at the TASS business breakfast “Russia and China: Routes for Cooperation in Tourism and Media,” Bisslinger noted that media and the blogosphere have already become the main drivers of interregional ties and shape the image of territories. In these conditions, responsibility for content increases sharply. For a sustainable flow of tourists and business contacts, audiences must rely on verified data, and the information field must be protected from fakes.
“In the context of a multipolar world, it is especially important for Russia and China to jointly develop a space of trust — where different points of view may compete, but facts do not become a tool of manipulation,” he emphasized.
The discussion involved representatives from TASS and Xinhua, State Duma deputies, and regional leaders. Participants agreed that fact-checking and countering disinformation are becoming practical tools for strengthening dialogue and building a reliable image of partner states.
