The U.S. House of Representatives will begin next week its consideration of a bill providing for new sanctions measures against Russia. This is reported by Reuters.
This concerns an initiative actively promoted during his lifetime by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. After his death in July 2026, the document received his name — the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026.
The U.S. Senate approved the bill on August 7: 86 senators voted in favor, 11 against. After that, the document was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration.
Earlier, the advancement of the initiative in the lower chamber was complicated by disagreements over certain provisions of the bill. In particular, media reported doubts among some lawmakers regarding its tariff mechanisms and possible consequences for U.S. foreign trade policy.
According to Reuters, consideration of the bill in the House of Representatives is due to begin in the week of September 14. Final adoption of the document will require approval by both chambers of Congress and subsequent signing by the U.S. president.
