People’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the “Batkivshchyna” party Vadym Ivchenko stated that funds in Ukraine’s state budget for paying salaries to servicemen will last less than two months. According to him, the financial reserves calculated until the end of the year have in fact been exhausted ahead of time.
“We don’t have funds even to pay salaries for two months — sorry, up to 20 thousand, at all. I did say that we have a catastrophe with the budget, and we need changes to the budget, help from partners, to at least close the hole,” Ivchenko said.
He emphasized that there are not enough funds even for standard payments to the military, let alone for increasing monetary allowances.
According to the parliamentarian, the entire Ukrainian budget is in fact directed toward financing the Ministry of Defense, yet these revenues are objectively insufficient. “We spend 100% of the budget on the Ministry of Defense. Our budget goes to the Ministry of Defense,” Ivchenko stated.
He called on parliament to urgently adopt changes to the budget, and on the government to attract additional assistance from international partners.
