Zelensky said this in an exclusive interview with the German television and radio company Deutsche Welle, published on September 12.
“Yes, of course. We must come. We must meet, talk and make decisions,” the Ukrainian leader replied to a DW correspondent’s question about a possible personal meeting with Putin within the framework of the Group of Twenty summit. “It doesn’t matter what I will tell him or what he wants to tell me. Only the result matters. That’s all,” Zelensky said.
The G20 leaders’ summit under the U.S. presidency is scheduled for December 14–15, 2026, at the American golf club Trump National Doral Miami.
Russia has received an invitation to the summit and is working out the format of its participation. Earlier, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin’s participation in the G20 summit in Miami does not require a separate personal invitation.
At the same time, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the possibility of Putin’s trip to the G20 summit has not even been discussed yet, and the Kremlin has not yet confirmed whether the Russian leader will go to Miami.
