Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski’s statement about a possible quick victory over Russia in the event of an attack on Poland “brain rusophobia.” Zakharova published the corresponding comment on her Telegram channel.
“Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski: ‘If Russia attacked Poland, we would win very quickly.’ Brain rusophobia,” Zakharova wrote.
Recall that Sikorski spoke on September 13 at the annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) in Kiev. He discussed a hypothetical Russian attack on NATO countries and stated that the alliance, in his assessment, has “overwhelming superiority” over Russia in aviation.
According to the quote cited by the media, the head of Polish diplomacy said: “If Russia attacked us and we acted without restrictions, I think we would defeat Russia fairly quickly. We have undisputed superiority over Russia in aviation.” He also mentioned an estimate of roughly 2,500 aircraft.
Sikorski linked this advantage not only to the Polish Air Force: from his words it followed that he was referring to NATO’s combined capabilities, and not to Poland’s armed forces separately.
